April 11, 2009 The memories we have had with the Baker family are too many to count. I wish I could have put the picture in here of the last time John and Lola were in our home surrounded by our close friends. God Bless and keep you.Words John spoke to us so many times, are the best we can come up with at this time. April 18, 2009 John, you are already very missed by so many people, me especially!! I will always remember the day you befriended me when I was unemployed and so depressed about it. You came over to make sure I was OK and to let me know that God had a plan for me. You helped me so much that Sunday and have checked with me every week to make sure things were still good with me and this while you were going thru your health issues. Heaven is very lucky to get someone as wonderful as you and earth is missing one of it's angels!!! My thoughts and prayers are with Lola and your beautiful family!! ~ Cathy Vollmer, Glendale, Arizona

April 29, 2009 John and Lola have had such an impact on the lives of the people here at Deer Valley. I keep hearing wonderful stories of how people came to DV thru your ministry. Of how you were such a blessing to those you visited that were sick. I know Lola will keep ministering, and John you are sorely missed. We Love You Both ~ Ray/Linda Gundlach, Phoenix, Arizona April 28, 2009 John, you were always a huge encouragement to me at DV Church. You and Lola always seemed to have the right words that I needed to hear as I was on the edge of giving up. I pray that we all use the wisdom you have left us with to make an impact for Christ. ~ Lizzy Jones, Glendale, Arizona
Uncle John could light up an entire room with his smile and melodic voice; we did look forward to his visits so much, always knowing that he and Aunt Lola loved us and cared for us. WE WILL MISS HIM!
May 03, 2009 Lola and family: It is such an honor to be permitted to leave a note of encourgement to you as we try to express to you how much your Husband and Father meant to Joy and I during our acquaintance at Deer Valley. John was such an encourgement to me and became a dear friend as you did also, Lola. God's blessings are prayed for each of you as you experience His leading during these lonely times. Remember that we will all join our friend in worshipping our Jesus some day. Hallaluha!! ~ Russ & Joy Kinnaman, New Castle, Indiana
Just now I found this site for the first time. Thank you, David and Mary Beth, for the beautiful job you did putting it together. I'm so proud to say that JMB was my Dad, and I still thank our Lord each day for the wonders of a life nurtured by John & Lola. If you were touched by my Dad or if you still know my Mom, let any memory or lesson learned propel you forward in furthering the Kingdom of God. Yes, JMB shined as friend & neighbor, athlete & musician, thinker & manager, leader & teacher. He was unltimately both my buddy & my hero. But beyond any role, even of husband & father, he was foremost that 12 year old boy who heard the call to be a pastor, whose 80 years of faith and obedience was a living response to that call. So I'm very sure he'd want to urge you onward, even as you read this now . . . Only one life, 'twill soon be past; only what's done for Christ will last. John Ed Baker, Whittier CA 562-686-2128
Thank you for sharing this site with me John, it is funny the little things that are remembered as we grow older. Every time I go down Venoy Rd. past the church I think of your wonder parents and what they meant to me. I had a couple good years over at that church and I will always remember being saved by the youth pastor, just cannot remember his name. I am glad that we have reconnected through facebook. I remember your mom and dad as such wonderful sweet people, oh my gosh and your dad was so funny. I remember the Christmas songs your family use to come over and sing at our house, it always meant so much to us that the family did that. I also am comforted in knowing that your father was up in Heaven to greet my husband, Richard knew all about you and your family so that made me feel good. Thank you again for sharing this with me.
